EPB Takes Control with a Virtual Power Plant
EPB is a municipally-owned utility tasked with providing electric power to more than 170,000 residents in a 600 square-mile area that includes the greater Chattanooga, Tennessee area, parts of surrounding counties and areas of North Georgia.
EPB received a grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to develop and implement a virtual power plant as a source of generation.
OATI was able to rise to the challenge with our comprehensive demand response management system — webDistribute. OATI webDistribute allows utilities to monitor, control, schedule, and manage Demand Response assets and Distributed Energy Resources.
OATI webDistribute is helping EPB:
- Report voltage and demand measurements from bellwether meters
- Reduce voltage levels throughout their distribution grid
- View real-time data to provide precise measurements for maximum load reduction
- Optimize load reduction without affecting customers
