Leaders in the energy industry from Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) discuss Smart Grid security solutions in the newest edition of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Smart Grid Newsletter.

Minneapolis, MN: April 29, 2016 – OATI is pleased to announce its inclusion in the newest edition of the IEEE Smart Grid newsletter. The article titled “Secure Smart Grid Visibility and Control,” written by OATI Smart Grid experts Kash Nodehi, Executive Vice President of OATI; David Heim, Chief Strategy Officer; Erik Amundson, Chief Technology Officer, Advanced Systems Design; and Ebrahim Vaahedi, Senior Director, Smart Grid, is now available online.

IEEE Smart Grid is an organization that seeks to foster the development of Smart Grid technologies by creating a space where industry leaders can come together to collaborate and offer their knowledge and guidance. The monthly newsletter highlights issues affecting the development of the Smart Grid as reported by experts, thought-leaders, and decision-makers across the North American energy industry.

The article discusses the many benefits of the Smart Grid, including optimizing power supply portfolios, achieving grid visibility from the end-use consumers to distribution substations, and using DR and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) to strategically manage system load and distribution grid operating conditions. It also addresses some of the current challenges Smart Grid developers face in ensuring high-level security in tandem with harnessing the reliability and economic value of end-use devices in their initiatives. The article offers various solutions and approaches developers can take to overcome these challenges.

“We are honored to have members of our company leverage their years of experience in writing this article,” says Sasan Mokhtari, President and CEO of OATI. “We are committed to lending our insight and expertise of the energy industry to aid in the development of Smart Grid technologies.”
