OATI’s Culture of Security Highlighted by Microsoft Acceptance of webCARES

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) webCARES certificates are now trusted by Microsoft browsers and applications.

Minneapolis, MN: August 12, 2013 – Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) is pleased to announce acceptance of OATI webCARES into the Microsoft Root Certificate Program. Incorporation in this program not only adds an additional level of security to protect certificates, but makes this security convenient for customers by minimizing the need to import the OATI webCARES Root Certificate manually.

Root Certificates accepted by Microsoft come embedded in new browsers and are made available to previous browser versions through Windows Update and the Microsoft Update Catalog. As part of Microsoft’s Root Certificate Program, OATI webCARES Root Certificates will be included on Microsoft’s Certificate Trust List (CTL). Users on Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, Xbox 360, and Windows Phone 8 will now have access to the OATI webCARES Root Certificate when they encounter a situation to trust the certificate.

When users visit a secure website or access a secure email and encounter a new root certificate, the certificate is verified and automatically downloaded into the system.

“OATI is proud to be in compliance with the stringent guidelines in place for inclusion in this program,” said Dr. Sasan Mokhtari, Ph.D., President and CEO of OATI. “OATI’s priority is to be the provider of the most secure solutions to the energy industry, and this development furthers that goal.”
