OATI Builds Demand Response Management System in Record Time

Open Access Technology International (OATI) completes and goes live with Phase 1 of its project with East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) in under 60 days.

Minneapolis, MN: June 23, 2015 – OATI is pleased to announce the successful Phase I implementation of its webSmartEnergy centralized Demand Management System solution for EKPC within 60 days of being selected to complete the project. When all phases are completed, the platform will be used by EKPC and its 16 member cooperatives to centrally operate its full suite of load management systems in full compliance with PJM’s market structure and emergency operations plans.

The EKPC webSmartEnergy Phase 1 Configuration includes OATI webIntegrate, OATI webDistribute, and OATI webMeter. webIntegrate is configured to listen for specific PJM event notifications and pass along these notifications for webDistribute to process. webDistribute accepts these PJM Market Events and sends the correct Firm Service Level (FSL) and Guaranteed Load Drop (GLD) program notification. webMeter collects the metering information from EKPC’s Meter Data Management (MDM) solution and provides the required hourly metering data file associated with each customer for each PJM event.

Sasan Mokhtari, President and CEO at OATI, said, “I am extremely pleased we were able to complete Phase 1 of the EKPC Demand Response Management System (DRMS) project as fast as we did. This is a great accomplishment for us, and I am confident that OATI’s solutions will meet EKPC’s needs with the highest quality possible and will provide them with service for years to come. I look forward to the continued development and installment of the next Phases as well.”

The next portion of the Project will be the EKPC webSmartEnergy centralized Demand Management System Phase II, in which OATI’s webDistribute will integrate with 16 member Coops for Direct Load Control and will configure with two new Demand Response (DR) programs: Residential Direct Load Control for water heaters and air conditioners.
