OATI Aids EPB Chattanooga with Smart Grid Award Winning Project

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) provides cutting-edge Smart Grid technology for EPB Chattanooga’s project, which was honored in the August 2013 edition of POWER magazine.

Minneapolis, MN: August 26, 2013 – OATI congratulates EPB (formerly Electric Power Board) Chattanooga for being named POWER magazine’s 2013 Smart Grid Award winner. OATI is proud to have been an integral part of EPB’s Smart Grid project and is delighted to be a part of their success.

In awarding this honor, POWER noted two distinct reasons why EPB was the clear choice. First, EPB’s technology choices, timing, and implementation returned benefits to the utility, customers, and the community. Second, EPB’s Smart Grid work enabled the utility to enter new business sectors and deepen its customer base, resulting in new revenue streams.

In October 2013, EPB is launching a demand reduction management system powered by OATI’s flagship Smart Grid product, webDistribute. This solution provides EPB the platform and applications needed to improve its power system economics, reliability, and environmental compliance by fully integrating Demand Response (DR) and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) capabilities with its power system.

“We are excited to be a part of this innovative Smart Grid implementation that is bringing EPB so much success,” said Dr. Sasan Mokhtari, Ph.D., CEO and President of OATI. “We look forward to our continued collaboration with EPB, as we strive to achieve new milestones in Smart Grid technology.”
