Local Cooperative Chooses OATI’s Advanced Demand Response Management System

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) will provide its webSmartEnergy Demand Response Management System (DRMS) and GridControl secure communications system to Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC) to manage key distribution and demand management operations.

Minneapolis, MN: February 03, 2016 – OATI is pleased to announce that MVEC has selected the comprehensive OATI webSmartEnergy DRMS and OATI GridControl secure communications system to be deployed in its territory. MVEC will use OATI’s system to better manage load and reduce costs to cooperative members. The OATI suite of applications support interfaces with MVEC’s existing external systems and create reliable, dispatchable demand-side resources, featuring OATI webDistribute, as well as OATI’s latest hardware technologies, GridControl and GridPort.

The deployment will provide a comprehensive DRMS to manage multiple types of controllable loads and Distributed Energy Resources (DER).  The system will allow the cooperative’s distribution desk to manage many different Load Management Systems from one unified management system.  The system will allow the cooperative to manage its load and generation resources in order to better control its electrical peak.  This will lead to significant value to the cooperative, and its members, through avoidance of demand charges, better use of infrastructure, and overall more efficient operations.

“OATI’s webSmartEnergy and GridControl solutions, supported by the OATI Cloud infrastructure, are uniquely positioned to meet the needs of the nation’s electricity cooperatives.  OATI is pleased and honored to have earned the opportunity to support our customer in new and innovative ways.”  said OATI’s Dave Heim, Chief Strategy Officer.

“OATI’s solutions will take us to the next level, and help us transition into the future of monetizing the value of distributed energy resources.  OATI brings an innovative approach, and the necessary technical and business competence to meet our objectives; all while maintaining an essential focus on security.  We feel fortunate to work with OATI.” said Ryan Hentges, General Manager, MVEC.

“OATI is excited to work side-by-side with MVEC to ensure a smooth transition to the most advanced Smart Grid technologies with our webSmartEnergy Demand Response Management System,” said Sasan Mokhtari, OATI President and CEO. “As a proud and loyal member of the Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative, I look forward to experiencing firsthand the power of OATI’s advanced solutions.”
