East Kentucky Power Cooperative, Inc. Selects OATI to Provide Demand Response Management System

EKPC has selected OATI to implement a centralized Demand Response Management System that, when deployed over this next year, will be used by EKPC and its 16 Member Cooperatives to centrally operate its suite of load management programs in full compliance with PJM’s Market Structure and Emergency Operations Plans.

Minneapolis, MN: April 28, 2015 – OATI webDistribute will become the hub from which EKPC will manage its DR programs in harmony with its Cooperatives, Commercial and Industrial (C&I) loads, and the PJM Wholesale Market. The webDistribute DRMS will manage Direct Load Control programs with the Member Cooperatives, Firm Service Level (FSL) and Guaranteed Load Drop (GLD) programs for C&I Consumers, and Conservation Voltage Reduction for additional peak shaving capabilities.  In addition to the core OATI webDistribute DRMS platform, EKPC’s configuration will also include; OATI webMeter, webIntegrate, and webSmartView form the OATI webSmartEnergy portfolio.

OATI webDistribute is specifically designed to help Generation and Transmission Companies (G&Ts) improve utility Demand Response (DR) operations by seamlessly integrating with new AMI and other technologies, effectively integrating data without comprising the independence of their Member Cooperatives, and ensuring data privacy using best-in-class cyber security. Moreover, for centralized entities such as EKPC that provide services to and on behalf of many members, OATI’s DRMS is designed for multi-company and or multi-tenant deployment models, with highly secure company and role-based access management capability.

Sasan Mokhtari, President and CEO at OATI, said, “I am very pleased that EKPC selected OATI to provide them with a DRMS to centrally operate their Demand Response programs. We are highly confident in OATI’s suite of solutions to deliver EKPC’s next generation centralized Demand Response Management System based on the OATI webDistribute platform for managing the full lifecycle of their Demand Response (DR) programs.”
