Central Electric EMC Selects OATI to Provide Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) Solution

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) to provide webDMS CVR solution to the Central Electric Smart Grid communications infrastructure to manage system voltage regulation for demand reduction.

Minneapolis, MN: April 20, 2015 – OATI has been selected to provide Central Electric Membership Corporation (Central Electric) with a Demand Response (DR) CVR system based on OATI webDMS. The OATI wedDMS CVR solution will be part of an overarching solution that incorporates integration with Central Electric’s AMI communications infrastructure and grid field devices controlled by OATI DNP3 Master. The OATI webDMS CVR solution is highly scalable and is provided as a Software-as-a-Service (Saas), hosted from the OATI North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Central Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliant Cloud, Data Center.

The webDMS CVR system reads near Real-Time voltage and load data then feeds that data into a distribution model and produces control operation decisions for voltage regulators and/or capacitor banks. This solution is also an AMI-CVR based solution that combines both real-time primary and periodic secondary distribution data from AMI meters to create wide spread observability.

Sasan Mokhtari, President and CEO at OATI commented, “I am very excited that Central Electric put their confidence in OATI’s ability to deploy a system to help them reduce their demand and energy loads. I look forward to this relationship and I am confident OATI can deliver a successful CVR solution to Central Electric.”
