OATI has immediate openings for Administrative Coordinator positions. Administrative Coordinators provide support to OATI staff and customers by performing a variety of complex administrative and clerical tasks. These tasks typically include document organization and formatting, filing, data entry, communication with customers on behalf of OATI staff, internal document routing, and collaboration with other departments to complete inter-departmental projects.

Associate Embedded Firmware Engineer

OATI is seeking an Associate Embedded Firmware Engineer. Working under the direction of Senior Firmware Engineers, this person will work on the definition, design and implementation and validation of embedded firmware running on microcontrollers. Coursework in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and hands on experience working with IDEs and embedded C is desired.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or other comparable degree or certification with relevant work experience
  • Coursework or experience developing embedded firmware for microcontroller based-systems
  • Coursework or experience with embedded RTOS configuration and implementation
  • Experience with IDEs developing Embedded C applications

Associate Project Manager

OATI Associate Project Manager - 0-3 Years' Experience Required
OATI is seeking business and legal professionals for positions as Associate Project Managers who are responsible for assisting in managing complex software application deployments within the energy industry. The position requires demonstrated proficiency in communication, problem analysis, and ability to review and understand industry business practices and standards. Successful candidates will guide customer-facing projects that feature software solutions for utility clients responsible for managing electrical grid system operations. OATI professionals lead client and vendor teams responsible for the development and delivery of OATI regulatory, compliance, transmission, energy trading, transmission scheduling, energy accounting, and settlement solutions. These positions provide opportunities in a fast-paced environment working on the latest industry initiatives and the inherent growth opportunities. Some positions may begin as a Customer Systems Analyst in the OATI help desk for 10-12 months to learn more about OATI products and customers. Bachelor's degree required, however adequate industry work experience in system operations and IT will also be considered. Legal experience is a plus.
 
Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree. Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school is a plus
  • 0-3 years of experience as a Project Manager
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with ability to acquire new skills
  • Working knowledge of legal aspects of compliance and regulatory standards (a plus)

Building Systems Operator

OATI is seeking a Building Systems Operator (BSO) to maintain, operate, and optimize facilities. The BSO will initially be operating OATI’s internal facilities and grow into operating other facilities. OATI’s BSO group is growing and looking to add additional qualified staff to the team.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 2 years technical certificate or diploma for HVAC, Electrical Systems/Metering, or 2 years of building systems operation experience. Prior experience with the following technology is a plus:
    • Honeywell EBI
    • Trane Tracer SC/ES
    • Schneider Power Monitoring Expert (PME), Struxureware, Meters (ION and PM)
    • Johnson Controls - Metasys
    • IPSwitch WhatsUp Gold or other SNMP monitoring systems
    • Any other building automation and monitoring systems
  • Experience with and decoding of these protocols:
    • Modbus/RTU, Modbus/TCP
    • BACnet/MSTP, BACnet/IP
    • DNP3 is a plus
    • Wireless protocols such as Zigbee, ZWave, etc. is a plus
  • Experience with automation system, electrical, hydronic, of fire protection system layout/design is a plus
  • Experience with packet sniffing and network troubleshooting, as it relates to building automation protocols, is highly preferred
  • Experience with mechanical/electrical metering products is a plus
  • Experience with cogeneration, microgrids, renewable energy, energy storage a plus

OATI has an immediate opening for Manager - Communications position. We are looking for a self-motivated and talented Communications Manager to lead our communications department. In this position, you will be in charge of producing high-quality content that engages customers and builds brand recognition.

Your main duties will also include: creating informative content, press releases, articles, and media opportunities to share our company’s brand, products, and services. Responsibilities of the Communications Team:

OATI is currently looking for an innovative, creative, and problem solving Communications Specialist – Framework Development Group to join our growing team in Minneapolis, MN. An OATI Communications Specialist – Framework Development Group will help to improve a large number of OATI products as well as assist in designing new products. The Communications Specialist – Framework Development Group will gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and SMEs, quickly understand and evaluate user interface and experience for multiple complex systems, and execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to development. In addition, an OATI Communications Specialist – Framework Development Group will develop dashboard prototypes and interactive wireframes to guide application design, identify and troubleshoot UX problems, and adhere to style standards on fonts, colors, and images.
 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • This position requires a 2 or 4 year degree in Interaction Design, Communication Design, or related field
  • Portfolio or personal website showing expert-level delivery of UI/UX projects
  • 1-2 years’ experience designing UI for multiple form factors (mobile/tablet/desktop)
  • Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite – especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe XD
  • Deep understanding of UX process, such as researching, designing, prototyping, testing, etc

Senior Technology Architect

OATI is seeking a Senior Technology Architect with focus on embedded Linux to be the primary manager of product’s code repository, managing code changes, releases, and testing. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of work experience in this area. Must be a technical subject matter expert and be able to lead and mentor other team members. Experience as tier 3 support for problem investigation and customer deployment support. Ability to participate in applying customer or project needs to the product’s software and operation.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science (IT Infrastructure) or other comparable degree or certification, with relevant work experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in embedded Linux software and systems

OATI is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer with experience defining, designing, validating and working through system test challenges for microprocessor and microcontroller based systems.  The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of work experience in this area.  Experience with 32-bit ARM based microcontrollers and related tools and debuggers is essential. Ability to use logic analyzers and oscilloscopes to facilitate firmware/system debug is desired.  Additionally, having experience with wireless protocols (ZigBee, SubGHz, custom) is desired.  Required to support the effort to create production functional test solutions with supporting firmware and software. Comfort in reading data sheets and reference manuals and understanding expected hardware behaviors is essential.

OATI is seeking a highly motivated sales hunter and results-orientated individual responsible for generating revenue for OATI’s industry leading Grid Modernization solutions, specifically OATI’s IOT-based Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to launch and grow this new AMI market disruptive solution. This position focuses on municipal owned  electric  utilities.

Successful candidates will possess an aggressive and strategic prospecting skill set and a consultative approach to sales. This position is responsible for developing an annual territory sales plan and identifying specific actions to achieve assigned targets/goals and quotas. Performance will be measured by new bookings, recognized revenue plus sales pipeline growth and the ability to attain other sales objectives. Key responsibilities include: prospecting, building a sales pipeline, moving opportunities through the sales cycle; proposing, presenting, discussing solutions, and closing business. Other responsibilities include: market analysis, sales strategy development, tradeshow support, and proposal writing and sales reporting. Collaboration with technical staff, other colleagues, and supporting the overall team effort within the sales organization is expected.

This position requires moderate to extensive travel. Experience in electric utility industry operations, AMR/AMI, and or related fields is preferred. A knowledge of Grid Modernization, microgrids, demand response, distributed energy resource management and/or related areas is desirable. Preference is for a Minneapolis-based position but candidates could be based within a designated regional territory upon further discussions. This position has high growth potential.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related discipline
  • Experience with AMI and related technology 
  • 2 to 5 years of sales experience or equivalent, including exposure to utility/distribution industry

OATI is looking for Software Developers with 0-1 year of experience in building innovative, smart, and complex applications for openings in Minneapolis, MN. Successful candidates will have strong understanding of requirement specifications and software design in order to write code in already developed modules or new module development. This position requires the ability to write efficient and quality code per coding standards from software design. 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related study required
  • Substantial experience in .Net 3.0/4.0, WPF applications – development and deployment
  • Good programming and communication skills with the aptitude for building stable solutions
  • Ability to be a team player and work in collaboration with other team members
  • Strong knowledge of relational database design concepts
  • Acceptable background investigation report
  • Local to MN

Other Requirements:

  • Capable of leading efforts utilizing Visual Studio 2010/2015/2017, SQL Server 2008/2014, SOA
  • Capable of reading, tuning and maintaining SQL Stored Procedures
  • Expert level of knowledge in relation to data integration, web services and database optimization
  • Ability to work in a small, experienced, energetic team on a rapid, agile development schedule
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and is able to engage with and manage the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders
