OATI is seeking business professionals for Project Coordinator positions to assist in coordinating project deployments within the energy industry. These roles require demonstrated proficiency in communication, attention to detail, organizational skills, and a solid understanding of project structuring, planning, and implementation. Job responsibilities include:

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) is seeking a professional, customer-service-oriented Front Desk & Office Services Coordinator to support our Bloomington location.   This role reports 100% on site and is essential in creating a welcoming environment for guests, including, employees, vendors, and VIPs, while ensuring smooth office operations.  The starting salary range for the role ranges from $42,000.00 – $52,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage meeting room reservations and ensure seamless event logistics
  • Answer and direct calls professionally
  • Assign badges to guests and new employees
  • Stock and manage office supplies
  • Assist the Talent Team
  • Coordinate shipments, deliveries, and vendor escorts

The Open Access Technology International (OATI) is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team of AI researchers focused on power systems. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience working on real-world AI applications alongside leading experts in the energy sector. The starting salary for this role ranges from $100k – $175k per year, commensurate with experience.

Our team is tackling critical challenges in electric power system operations using Artificial Intelligence.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on specific AI problems critical to power system operations, leveraging OATI’s vast datasets spanning decades (e.g., forecasting load, wholesale electricity market prices, renewable energy generation; optimizing grid reliability, resiliency, and stability; signature analysis and anomaly detection).
  • Architect and lead the development of enterprise-grade AI platform that integrates advanced generative AI and LLM technologies.
  • Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks to enhance AI model knowledge retrieval and contextual understanding.
  • Develop and deploy agentic AI systems capable of autonomous decision-making and multi-agent collaboration.
  • Build and optimize neural network models tailored to use cases in the energy/power systems industry ensuring high performance and scalability.
  • Lead the design of multi-agent model architectures to enable complex workflows and interactions between AI agents.
  • Implement and standardize Model Context Protocol based communication to ensure consistent context management across AI models and agents.
  • Develop and implement machine learning models using popular frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) to analyze and extract meaningful insights from power system data.
  • Participate in the full research cycle, including literature review, data exploration, experimentation, analysis, and presentation of findings.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field; PhD preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven expertise with Large Language Models (e.g., LLAMA, BERT) and generative AI technologies.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
  • Deep knowledge of agentic AI frameworks and multi-agent system design.
  • Strong background in neural network architectures, including transformers and other models.

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI), an innovative Minnesota-based technology company, is seeking a Microgrid Controls Engineer to work in the design, programming, and deployment/testing of microgrid systems. OATI’s Microgrid group is growing fast, and looking to add additional qualified staff to the team.

Microgrids are an exciting part of the new smart grid. They are electrical systems with the ability to generate their own power, disconnect and reconnect with the grid, and perform services to aid the greater power grid when they are grid-tied. These systems provide benefits such as greener power supply, resilient power through catastrophic events, and financial benefits to the system owners.

This position will involve the following tasks/responsibilities:

  • Working with OATI software teams to develop, deploy, and test microgrid control platforms.
  • Configuring and testing OATI’s software-based microgrid control platform.
  • Programming SEL RTACs (Real-Time Automation Controllers) to perform ancillary functions, along-side OATI’s software based microgrid control platform.
  • Supporting customers in troubleshooting SEL relays, meters, recloser controllers, etc.
  • Designing control networks and infrastructure to perform communications at microgrid sites.
  • Field implementation, commissioning and troubleshooting of new microgrid sites.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering (Technology), or Computer Science – OR equivalent experience
  • Experience and knowledge with AC power, 3-phase AC power, real/reactive/apparent power, metering

OATI professionals lead client and vendor teams responsible for the development and delivery of OATI regulatory, compliance, transmission, energy trading, transmission scheduling, energy accounting, settlement, and smart grid solutions. These positions provide opportunities in a fast-paced environment to work on the latest industry initiatives and the inherent growth opportunities. Bachelor’s degree is required, however adequate industry work experience in system operations and IT will also be considered. The starting salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $75,000 per year.

OATI is seeking a highly motivated Account Executive for Software Sales. This is a sales role that will focus on identifying new market segment opportunities, new customers, growing existing accounts and driving the expansion of OATI solution sales. The Account Executive participates in a team-selling environment, providing the customer with a primary point of contact within OATI. Responsibilities include facilitating successful relations with customers, all sales activities, including: industry analysis, identifying new customers and new opportunities, building customer relationships, sales presentations and demonstrations, customer consultation, and proposal responsibility.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) and large Municipal Owned Utilities (MOUs) are actively seeking DERMS solutions to effectively incorporate and optimize Distributed Energy Resources (DER) (e.g. solar PVs, energy storage batteries, customer-owned generators, etc.), and Demand Response (DR) asset (e.g. smart thermostats, irrigation pumps, etc.) strategies into their grid operations for cost savings, greater grid resiliency, and carbon emissions reductions.

OATI is seeking highly motivated sales hunters and results-orientated individuals responsible for generating revenue for OATI’s industry-leading Grid Modernization solutions that includes a high field-proven and comprehensive DERMS solution for DR/DER management, among other solutions. This role offers a competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $200,000, based on experience.

Successful candidates will possess an aggressive and strategic prospecting skill set and a consultative approach to sales with a passion for technology.  This position is responsible for developing an annual territory sales plan and identifying specific actions to achieve assigned targets/goals and quotas.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related discipline
  • Experience and/or knowledge with DERMS, demand management, DERs, smart thermostat programs and technology
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales experience or equivalent, including exposure to utility/distribution industry, and directly with IOUs and MOUs being highly preferred
  • Willingness to do extensive customer research, outreach and travel.
  • Understanding and or willingness to learn about the impacts of and opportunities created by FERC order 2222
  • Proven success identifying and closing new business
