Ambient adjusted ratings solution | FERC Order 881

ambient adjusted ratings
OATI webLineR™ enables utilities, transmission owners, and grid operators to collect ambient adjusted ratings (AAR) and seasonal ratings from market participants and transmission owners, generate cleared ratings, and feed numerous backend market and reliability.

FERC Order 881, issued in 2021, is a boon for power market participants and consumers alike—requiring transmission line ratings to reflect the maximum transfer capacity depending on weather conditions, as opposed to conservative assumptions. But as with any new policy, the burden is on the regulated party, many of which must act before the end of 2026.

Six North American transmission providers – Avista, Bonneville Power Administration, Dominion Energy, Idaho Power Company, Santee Cooper, and Southern Company – achieved FERC Order 881 schedule by deploying OATI’s solution for ambient adjusted ratings.
