NERC CE: Cost-Effective Provision of Grid Services from Distributed and Behind-the-Meter Assets
With increasing volume of intermittent renewable resources at bulk power, distribution, and the grid-edge (consumer side) there is an urgent need for new grid services. This NERC-CE training course will explain the existing and emerging grid services for bulk power and distribution operations. OATI professionals will address how grid services, which are conventionally provided by generation resources, can be supplied by Distributed Energy Resources (DER), effectively turning the problem of DERs into solutions from DER. Examples of the economic value of DER providing grid services will be provided as well.

NERC CE: Integration of Distributed Energy Resources in Distribution Grid and Wholesale Market Operations
With the increasing levels of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and energy storage and the ability to manage demand (Demand Response-DR) at all levels of the distribution grid and in particular on the customer side of the meter, operating the distribution grid is becoming more challenging. The grid operator will need visibility to all DR and DER assets as well as the secondary and lateral parts of the grid where most these assets are located. The operator will also need the ability to forecast, schedules, and dispatch these resources for various system operators objectives. This course will present the requirements for Demand Response/Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DRMS/DERMS) covering issues such as modeling DR/DER assets, creating programs, enrolling customers and customer assets, forecasting DR/DER capabilities, aggregating assets into resources and Virtual Power Plants (VPP), scheduling resources, dispatching, monitoring, and addressing invoicing, billing, and settlement.
