OATI Expert Elected to Prestigious National Academy of Engineering

OATI is proud to announce Senior Project Manager Dr. Gabriel Ejebe was elected as a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) for his contributions to electric power system static and dynamic security assessments. This honor is one of the highest professional distinctions an engineer can receive.

Dr. Ejebe was elected via a thorough and rigorous election process, which includes a search, nomination, three supporting references, peer committee reviews, and a vote, with each step involving NAE members. Membership to the NAE honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of engineering in one or both of the following ways. The first includes “research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature.” The second way includes “the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education.”

At OATI, Dr. Ejebe provides technical lead for the delivery and release of software for Energy Trading and Transmission Congestion Markets. He has contributed to the development and implementation of practical solutions to electric power system problems using advanced systems theory, optimization techniques and numerical methods.

He will be one of 99 new members who will be formally inducted at the NAE’s annual meeting September 30, 2018 in Washington, D.C. This year’s influential group of nominees also includes Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, Inc., in the aerospace category, and Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors in the mechanical category.

“We are incredibly proud of Dr. Ejebe for this well-deserved recognition,” said Dr. Sasan Mokhtari, President and CEO at OATI. “With more than four decades of expertise in the electric power industry, especially in power system analysis, it comes without surprise. He’s a remarkable asset to OATI and to engineering as a whole.”
