OATI Hosts New Guided Tours of Fully Operational Microgrid

calcJul 10, 2017

OATI is pleased to announce the commencement of fully guided tours at the OATI Microgrid Technology Center in Bloomington, MN. Recent visitors include the Association of Large Distribution Cooperatives (ALDC) and the North Central Electric Association (NCEA) to see the latest technology available, including Combined Cooling, Heat, and Power (CCHP), Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and wind generation, and energy storage.

Microgrids are a more reliable and cost-effective means to maintain essential functions and play a key role in mitigating the threat of outages, strained power supplies, and rising energy costs for both cooperatives and large distributers.

Seeing a fully operational microgrid, like the OATI Microgrid Technology Center, helps utility leaders recognize these new technologies are viable and will deliver demonstrable economic and reliability benefits. OATI looks forward to engaging in these types of discussions with utilities, and, of course, leading more tours of the OATI Microgrid Technology Center!
