webTrader: Version 1.8.3 of the Electronic Tagging Functional Specification Approved by NAESB

calcNov 21, 2016

NAESB recently approved version 1.8.3 of the Electronic Tagging Functional Specification. As part of the new specification, the Market Operator function has been separated from the Balancing Area (BA)/Transmission Service Provider (TSP) reliability function and introduced as a separate role. This change will impact applications across the industry.

Market Operators can be optionally included in an e-Tag in the physical path and, if referenced, will be required to approve the e-Tag creation request. Market Operators, in addition to e-Tag authors, may also issue market level adjustments.

Market Operators must now register agent and approval services in webRegistry, the Electric Industry Registry (EIR). This change will impact OATI webSmartTag and other applications that send or receive e-Tag data.

OATI is currently assessing the impact of this change. Look for more information from OATI with regards to this change in the coming months.
