OATI Successfully Employs e-Tag Version 1.8.2 Rollout

In coordination with the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) and the Wholesale Electric Quadrant Coordinate Interchange Scheduling Subcommittee (WEQ CISS), Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) successfully launched e-Tag version 1.8.2 on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

Minneapolis, MN: March 31, 2015 – After months of preparation and planning, OATI successfully implemented the industry-wide adaptation of e-Tag version 1.8.2 Specification at 12:00 AM CST on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. At this time, the OATI webTag system, as well as all other OATI applications, switched to operating with e-Tag version 1.8.2. OATI thanks NAESB staff and committees for their leadership and support during this rollout.

For the last six months, OATI offered extensive training sessions as a part of our ongoing customer education and support to prepare customers for the expected industry changes. OATI was persistent to ensure these training sessions provided our customers with the tools they needed to seamlessly integrate their systems with e-Tag version 1.8.2, which included some of the largest changes in more than a decade. The success of cutover to e-Tag version 1.8.2 is attributed to OATI’s resilient efforts in planning, scheduling, and developing these changes for OATI systems. Over 200 OATI staff were onsite and on-call around the clock to support the industry during cutover, sustaining a smooth transition to e-Tag version 1.8.2.

Changes to the specification include the definition of several new features and address the reliability contention issue experienced when multiple reliability entities set the reliability limit on an e-Tag. For example, e-Tag version 1.8.2 includes the clarification of various terms used throughout the specification document, such as EIR data. The WEQ subcommittee has also taken this opportunity to remove old, outdated information such as abbreviations that are no longer in use or no longer relevant.
